3-4 servings

1 cup orange juice
2 cups apple juice
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup water
2 star anise, whole
3 allspice berries
1 teaspoon whole cloves
½ teaspoon vanilla

Mix together all ingredients over medium heat. Allow to come to boil and whisk often to allow sugars to dissolve. Once at a boil, turn heat down to medium low and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring often to prevent bottom from burning. Serve strained or leave spices in. Garnish with apple slices, and cranberries if desired.

*Periodically taste the wassail to be sure the flavors are infusing to your preference – spices can easily be adjusted in this recipe
