1 glass jar or bottle, 1/2 pint size or larger

7 vanilla beans

1 cup good quality vodka, rum, bourbon, or brandy (80 proof)

Step 1: Slice open vanilla beans lengthwise. If you need to cut the vanilla bean into smaller pieces to fit into your jar, go for it! Vanilla beans must be fully submerged.

Step 2: Pour in vodka, rum, bourbon, or brandy. Make sure beans are completely under the liquid.

Step 3: Shake it up! (or, “Shake It Off,” as the case may be.) (Yes, I went there.)

Step 4: Leave the vanilla for 8 weeks. Take that time to imagine all the yummy things to make with the vanilla. Make a Pinterest board or two.

Step 5: Store vanilla at room temperature and out of direct sunlight. Use it. Gift it. Savor every drop of it. Reflect on how beautiful your life is.
